Indian Air Force Heron Mk II Crash

An Indian Air Force Heron remotely piloted aircraft crashed on 25 April 2024 during a routine training sortie in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district. The Financial Express reported that the aircraft came down in an open area near Dhani Jajiya village, about 30 km from the district headquarters, and that the Air Force constituted a court of inquiry to establish the cause. India has operated Israeli-built Herons across its three services since the early 2000s, and the same report noted a pattern of roughly one Heron loss a year since 2013. The variant involved was not identified.
