Togolese Air Force Mi-35 Crash

A Togolese Air Force Mi-35M made a forced landing inside the Nioukpourma military camp in the Dapaong area of northern Togo about fifteen minutes into a flight carrying weapons and ammunition to units in the Kpendjal region, according to Military Africa. The helicopter then caught fire and was completely destroyed by a series of explosions, with a column of black smoke visible over the camp. No deaths were reported; witnesses cited by Military Africa said several injured soldiers were taken by ambulance to the Dapaong regional hospital. The cause of the emergency was not stated. Togo's Mi-35s support the counter-insurgency campaign against jihadist groups crossing from Burkina Faso.
