Description
Two Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force SH-60Ks collided and crashed into the Pacific during night antisubmarine training near Torishima. Japan’s Defence Ministry said one crew member was recovered and pronounced dead while seven remained missing. Flight recorders and debris from both helicopters were recovered close together, supporting the ministry’s collision finding.
