Republic of Korea Air Force KF-21 Ordered

South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration signed the first production contract for the KF-21 Boramae with Korea Aerospace Industries on 25 June 2024, covering 20 Block I fighters for 1.96 trillion won (about 1.41 billion US dollars). The first aircraft is due by the end of 2026 and the last of the batch by 31 August 2027. KAI had planned an initial order of 40 Block I aircraft, but the government limited it to 20 pending further verification, with a second batch of 20 to follow in 2025. The 4.5-generation fighter is to be built with a 65 per cent localisation rate.
