Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force F-4D/E/RF-4E Crash

A McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force crashed near Kabudarahang in Hamadan province. Both pilots ejected safely and suffered only minor injuries. Iran remains one of the last operators of the F-4, sustaining a shrinking fleet of airframes delivered before 1979 through domestic overhaul and cannibalisation. Attrition losses of the type have become steadily more frequent as the airframes age well beyond their intended service lives.
