Description
An AIDC T-5 Brave Eagle advanced jet trainer of the Republic of China Air Force crashed into the sea off the coast of Taitung. The sole pilot ejected and was recovered. The loss was an early setback for the indigenous Brave Eagle programme, which Taiwan developed from the F-CK-1 Ching-kuo fighter to replace ageing AT-3 and F-5 trainers, and which underpins the island plan to train pilots domestically rather than abroad.
