Description
An F/A-18E Super Hornet was lost overboard from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea on 28 April 2025. The US Navy said the aircraft was actively under tow in the hangar bay when the move crew lost control of it, and that the sailors operating the tow equipment moved clear before the jet and its tow tractor went over the side. A US official told Military.com that the carrier had made a hard evasive turn to avoid Houthi fire at the time. The Truman was then conducting strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. No loss of life was reported.
