Description
India signed a contract with Dassault Aviation for 26 Rafale M naval fighters, comprising 22 single-seat carrier aircraft and four twin-seat trainers. The aircraft will operate from INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya, replacing the MiG-29K fleet whose serviceability has been repeatedly criticised by Indian auditors. The deal delivers commonality with the 36 Rafale already flown by the Indian Air Force and includes weapons, simulators and infrastructure. It followed a competition in which the Rafale M was evaluated against the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
