United States Navy F/A-18E/F Crash

A second Super Hornet was lost from USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea on 6 May 2025, nine days after an F/A-18E fell overboard from the same carrier. People familiar with the matter told CNN that there was some kind of arrestment failure as the F/A-18F was attempting to land; the pilot and weapons systems officer ejected, were recovered by a rescue helicopter and suffered minor injuries, CNN reported. The jet went into the sea and, as of that report, had not been recovered; the loss was under investigation. The Truman was operating in support of the US campaign against the Houthis in Yemen.
