Royal Thai Air Force Gripen C/E Ordered

Thailand and Sweden signed a contract for a first batch of four Saab Gripen E/F fighters, comprising three single-seat Gripen E and one twin-seat Gripen F, in a deal worth around 550 million US dollars. The batch is the first of four tranches intended to build a squadron of 12 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2029 at a rate of two per year. Thailand selected the Gripen over the F-16 Block 70, citing cost and an industrial package, and already operates Gripen C/D aircraft alongside Saab 340 AEW aircraft.
