Indian Air Force Tejas Ordered

India's Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in New Delhi on 25 September 2025 for 97 Tejas Mk1A light combat aircraft, comprising 68 single-seat fighters and 29 twin-seat trainers, valued at Rs 62,370 crore (about 7.5 billion US dollars). Together with the 2021 contract for 83 aircraft, the Indian Air Force now has over 180 Mk1A on order. The variant carries the indigenous Uttam AESA radar and the Swayam Raksha Kavach electronic-warfare suite, with local content above 64 per cent. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027-2028, and the ministry said the programme would support 105 Indian suppliers.
