Description
An Mi-24D of the Ivory Coast Air Force suffered a technical failure on takeoff from Korhogo airport in the north of the country at around 13:00 local time and made an emergency landing on the runway, according to Military Africa. The helicopter ended up on its side with its tail boom detached; the crew escaped without injury. Ivory Coast received three refurbished ex-Bulgarian Mi-24Ds in 2017 and two more in 2020, and lost airframes in accidents in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Military Africa assessed that this crash probably destroyed the last airworthy Hind in the fleet.
