Description
A Sudanese Air Force Il-76 transport was lost over Babanusa in West Kordofan while dropping supplies to army troops besieged in the town by the Rapid Support Forces. The Sudanese army said a sudden technical failure in the right wing caused a fire and loss of control, and that all crew members were killed; it did not give their number. The RSF claimed its air defences shot the aircraft down, and open-source analysts cited by Military Africa pointed to debris consistent with a Chinese-made FK-2000 system. It was the second Il-76 the Sudanese Air Force lost in 2025, after the Nyala crash in February.
