Description
A KC-46A Pegasus of the 465th Air Refueling Squadron suffered an engine failure during its takeoff roll at Morón Air Base in southern Spain and the crew rejected the takeoff, according to The War Zone. Heavy braking of the loaded tanker blew out eight tyres and damaged the landing gear, and the aircraft remained on the runway, closing it to traffic. The base, a key staging point for US movements towards the Mediterranean and the Middle East, reopened its runway on 4 February after the aircraft was towed to a taxiway; several KC-135s, C-17s and Spanish Eurofighters had been stranded in the meantime. No injuries were reported.
