Description
An Indian Air Force Su-30MKI fighter jet, serial SB 175, crashed on a hilltop in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam on 5 March 2026 during a routine training sortie from Jorhat Air Base. The aircraft lost radar contact at approximately 7:42 pm local time and impacted terrain near Rangkhelan village in the Nilip block area, about 60 km from Jorhat. Both crew members were killed on impact. Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion and observed smoke rising from the hills. The IAF confirmed the loss the following day and ordered a Court of Inquiry.
