Description
An Iraqi Air Force An-32 Cline transport aircraft was damaged at Baghdad International Airport in an attack attributed to the Popular Mobilisation Forces, an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia, using Shaheb-12 missiles. The strike came during a wider campaign of militia attacks on installations hosting coalition forces in Iraq, and marked one of the few instances in which Iraqi state aircraft rather than US assets were hit. The airframe sustained repairable damage and was not written off. Iraq operates a small An-32 fleet used mainly for light tactical airlift and logistics support.
