Israel Air and Space Force Heron Shot down

An Israeli IAI Heron was shot down by an IRGC Aerospace Force air defence missile during a combat sortie east of Hormuz on 28 March 2026. The loss came as the US aerial campaign to reopen the Strait of Hormuz intensified, with Israeli surveillance assets supporting the effort against Iranian anti-shipping capabilities. It was the last Israeli unmanned aircraft lost over Iranian territory during the war.
