Turkey CH-47F Fleet Update

A Turkish Army Aviation Command Boeing CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopter crashed during a night training flight near the Temelli district of Ankara province in the early hours of 22 April 2026. All five personnel on board escaped without serious injuries; one crew member was hospitalised with mild chest pain as a precaution. The Turkish Ministry of National Defence confirmed the aircraft suffered significant damage, with Aviation Safety Network classifying the airframe damage as substantial. The cause of the incident is under investigation. Turkey operates 11 CH-47F Chinooks delivered between 2016 and 2019 under contracts signed in 2011 and 2015.
