United States Air Force MQ-9 Reaper Shot down

The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy shot down an MQ-9 Reaper over Qeshm Island on 6 April 2026, a day after another Reaper was lost over the same island. Iranian media published the engagement sequence and imagery of the wreckage. The two losses in quick succession reflected the concentration of US surveillance over the Strait of Hormuz approaches as Washington moved toward reopening the waterway to commercial traffic.
