United States Air Force T-38A/C Crash

A U.S. Air Force T-38C Talon assigned to the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, crashed in rural Lamar County near the Alabama–Mississippi border on 12 May 2026 at approximately 12:00 local time. Both pilots ejected safely before the aircraft hit the ground. Crew were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and released the same evening. Flight tracking showed a second T-38C (callsign REEF41, serial 66-4339) squawked emergency code 7700 simultaneously and landed safely. The crashed aircraft was callsign REEF42, serial 66-4362. Cause under investigation by an Air Force Safety Investigation Board.
