Description
An F-16AM of the 107th Separate Aviation Wing was lost on 29 July 2026 at around 18:45 local time over Kremenchuk Raion, Poltava Oblast, while flying an intercept mission against Russian air-launched targets. The Ukrainian Air Force reported an in-flight emergency that forced the pilot to eject; he was recovered alive and taken to a medical facility for examination, with his life reported out of danger. The State Bureau of Investigation opened a criminal inquiry into the circumstances of the loss. Ukraine has flown the type since August 2024 on airframes transferred by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium, and has lost several to both combat and technical causes.
