Description
Algeria's Ministry of National Defence announced on 9 August 2026 that it had donated four helicopters to the Nigerien Armed Forces, two of them Mi-24V attack helicopters. The aircraft flew the same day from the secondary deployment base at In Guezzam, in Algeria's deep south near the Nigerien border, to Niamey airport. Transport aircraft delivered type-specific ammunition, spare parts and support equipment alongside the helicopters. The MDN framed the transfer as part of its continuing security support to Sahel states. Algeria has operated the Mi-24 since the 1980s and holds one of the largest Hind fleets outside Russia.
