Description
A Turkish Air Force F-16 crashed on 12 August 2026 during a training sortie near Çiftlikköy in Yalova Province, coming down close to the 18th Main Jet Base on the eastern shore of the Sea of Marmara. The aircraft was assigned to a squadron of the 1st Main Jet Base at Eskişehir. The pilot ejected and was recovered unhurt, then taken to a hospital in Yalova for checks. No casualties or damage were reported on the ground. The Ministry of National Defence said the cause would be established by investigation. It is the second Turkish F-16 lost in 2026, after a fatal crash near Balıkesir on 25 February.
