Description
A Houthi military spokesman said on 16 September 2026 that Houthi forces had shot down a Royal Saudi Air Force F-15 over Marib governorate while it was supporting Saudi-backed ground forces, using what he described as a locally manufactured missile. The group published targeting footage and images of wreckage carrying Saudi markings and a tail number. According to The War Zone, the available imagery establishes that a Saudi F-15 was destroyed, while responsibility for the loss rests on the Houthi account; Reuters reported that the claim had not been independently verified. Saudi authorities had not confirmed the loss, and the fate of the crew was not stated.
