Nigerian Air Force AW109 Delivered

Three AW109 Trekker B light helicopters built by Leonardo arrived in Lagos on 15 September, the Nigerian Air Force said, the first tranche of ten ordered by the federal government; the remaining seven are expected before the end of 2026. The Chief of the Air Staff said the aircraft would raise fleet availability and improve responsiveness across several theatres, flying intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, close air support, armed escort and combat search and rescue. The helicopters were undergoing post-delivery assembly and technical preparation before entering operational service. Two Airbus H125 helicopters were presented alongside them.
