Description
A Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade was shot down on 1 October 2026 while flying a missile and bomb strike mission against Russian forces on the front line in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force said the aircraft was hit by a Russian missile and that the pilot ejected but did not survive. Aviation Safety Network attributes the shootdown to Russian air defences of the 58th Combined Arms Army. It is the second Ukrainian MiG-29 combat loss logged since August, after the jet lost over Odesa Oblast on 10 August.
