Description
A Mirage 2000D RMV of Fighter Squadron 2/3 Champagne, French Air and Space Force, crashed at about 22:40 on 20 October 2026 near Rogéville, Meurthe-et-Moselle, a few kilometres north of Air Base 133 Nancy-Ochey. The two-seat strike aircraft was on approach to the base, returning from an unarmed training sortie, when radar and radio contact were lost; residents reported an explosion and a fireball, and the wreckage came down in woodland. Weather conditions were poor. The base commander said the airframe had recently gone through the RMV mid-life renovation and showed no reliability issues. A safety investigation and a judicial inquiry have been opened.
