Portuguese Army UH-60L Delivered

The Portuguese Army's first UH-60L Black Hawk arrived at Tancos Military Airfield on 25 October 2026, carried from Melbourne, Florida, aboard a Portuguese Air Force KC-390. It is the Army's first helicopter of its own since an earlier NH90 order produced no aircraft, and will equip the new Support, Protection and Evacuation Helicopter Unit (UHAPE) at Tancos. An Army spokesperson said the helicopter was in the final phase of acceptance and certification and would begin flying once those procedures are complete. The programme, funded under the Military Programming Law at about €40 million, plans one further aircraft in the second quarter of 2027, another later that year and the last in early 2028.
