The Hellenic Ministry of National Defence signed a contract in Athens on 2 November 2026 for three Embraer KC-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft, with options for three more, through a government-to-government agreement with Portugal, Embraer announced. The Hellenic Air Force is to receive its first aircraft in 2027. According to The Aviationist, the airframes are expected to come from Portugal's own purchase options, and the initial package was reported at about 590 million euros. The KC-390s are to begin replacing the C-130B/H Hercules fleet and give Greece its first air-to-air refuelling capability, through wing-mounted hose-and-drogue pods for its Rafale and Mirage 2000 fighters but not its boom-refuelled F-16s. The contract follows the KYSEA approval in July.
