Description
Barranquilla Naval Air Base is a joint military and civil facility in Colombia, sharing infrastructure with Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport. The Colombian Naval Aviation established the base in 1987 to support the operations of the newly formed Grupo Aeronaval del Atlántico.
The base is operated by the Colombian Naval Aviation and houses the Grupo Aeronaval del Caribe (GANCA), the successor unit to the Grupo Aeronaval del Atlántico. Aviation elements stationed at the facility operate rotary-wing aircraft, including UH-1N Twin Huey helicopters. In 2019, the base integrated AS365N3 Dauphin helicopters into its active inventory.
