Description
The OM 50 Nemesis was designed in early 2001 by Chris L. Movigliatti. The rifle was developed by the Swiss firm AMSD and subsequently manufactured by Swiss Arms under licence, at which point it was redesignated the SAN 511. The original OM 50 Nemesis designation remains in common use in reference literature.
The weapon is a bolt-action anti-materiel rifle chambered for a heavy machine gun cartridge. Manufacturer figures place its accuracy within a fraction of a minute of arc at intermediate ranges and within one minute of arc at extended distances.
Azerbaijan operates the rifle within its Special Forces and the State Border Service (DSX). Georgia issues the type to the Georgian Special Operations Forces. In Ukraine, the rifle is used by law enforcement units subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The SAN 511 designation applies to the version produced by Swiss Arms.
