Missile Fath-360

The Fath-360, also designated BM-120, is an Iranian short-range tactical ballistic missile. It was first displayed under the name Fath at a military exhibition on 21 August 2020. It was formally announced on Islamic Republic of Iran Army Day, 18 April 2022. The design is believed to be a shortened derivative of the Fateh-110 family of short-range ballistic missiles.

The missile is roughly half the size of the Fateh-110 and keeps the same fin configuration. It has four fins at the tail near the exhaust, four triangular fins directly above them, and four small canards near the nosecone. It carries a high-explosive warhead. The missile leaves the launcher at about Mach 3 and reaches about Mach 4 at impact. Reported accuracy is a circular error of less than 30 m. Guidance is by satellite navigation, believed to use the GLONASS system, with inertial navigation as a secondary system. An extended-range variant, the Fath-360L, has been shown publicly. A Fath-450 variant is reported to reach about Mach 5 and carry a heavier warhead.

The missile is fired from round launch containers mounted on a truck-based transporter erector launcher. Launchers carry two, three, four or six containers, each holding one missile. Because of this multi-round arrangement, the system can be employed in a role similar to the GMLRS guided rocket system.

In Iran, the Fath-360 is operated by the Ground Forces of both the Artesh (Islamic Republic of Iran Army) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The first test firing took place during the Eghtedar 1401 exercise at Nasrabad, Isfahan. On 28 September 2022, the missile was reportedly used against positions of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI) in the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, during the 2022 Koya bombings.

Russia is also an operator. A supply contract between Iran and Russia was allegedly signed in December 2023. In August 2024, Reuters reported, citing European intelligence sources, that Russian personnel were training in Iran to operate the Fath-360. Russia reportedly received the missiles on 4 September 2024. Ukrainian intelligence stated later that month that a batch had been delivered, for use in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Fath-360 missiles were used in Iranian war games in late February 2026, shortly before the outbreak of the 2026 Iran War. Final assembly is believed to take place at the Kuh-e Barjamali site, part of the Khojir Aerospace Complex southeast of Tehran. United States forces struck the site on 7 March 2026.
