Description
King Faisal Naval Base is a Royal Saudi Navy installation at Jeddah, on the Saudi Arabian Red Sea coast. It is the headquarters and principal base of the Western Fleet, one of the two main operational formations of the Royal Saudi Navy, which is responsible for Saudi naval operations in the Red Sea. The base is owned by the Royal Saudi Navy and controlled by the Western Fleet command.
The installation includes a co-located airfield, identified by the ICAO code OEJF, with a single asphalt runway designated 15/33 of about 8,999 ft. The site lies at an elevation of roughly 7 ft above sea level.
The base was used by the United States Air Force following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and during the buildup preceding the 1991 Gulf War.
