Mar del Plata Naval Base

Mar del Plata Naval Base is an Argentine Navy port facility on the Atlantic coast at Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires Province. It is the home port of the Argentine submarine force.

The base berths the Navy's submarines, including the TR-1700 type ARA Santa Cruz (S-41) and the Type 209 ARA Salta (S-31). Also homeported are the offshore patrol vessels ARA Bouchard (P-51), ARA Piedrabuena (P-52) and ARA Almirante Storni (P-53), and units of the hydrographic division, among them ARA Puerto Deseado (Q-20) and ARA Comodoro Rivadavia (Q-11). Auxiliary and research craft assigned to the base include ARA Bahía Agradable (A-23), ARA Suboficial Castillo (A-6), and the small research vessels ARA Chulupí (R-10) and ARA Chiquiyán (R-18).

The site has been in naval use since 1826.
