Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base (昂船洲海軍基地)

Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base is a People's Liberation Army Navy installation on Stonecutters Island (Ngong Shuen Chau), Hong Kong. It falls under the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison and functions as a sub-base of the South Sea Fleet within the Southern Theater Command. The waters around the base are closed to civilian shipping.

The base houses the naval squadron of the Hong Kong Garrison, carrying the Military Unit Cover Designator 38081. Ships of the People's Liberation Army Navy call at the base, though only a small number are berthed there on a semi-permanent basis. The installation lies on the south shore of the former Stonecutters Island, south of the site of the former HMS Tamar, now the Government Dockyard.

Facilities are limited in scope. The waterfront consists of a basin and concrete berthing frontage. Ashore, the base holds naval barracks, married quarters, parade grounds, an exercise track, a medical centre, a base theatre and a number of low-rise naval buildings. Ammunition storage on the island includes an ammunition depot with bunkers, a subsidiary ammunition depot and an armament depot. Transmitting and receiving stations are also located within the perimeter. Land access is via Chi Ngong Road; entry to the naval yard is restricted and the surrounding ground fenced, with wooded terrain to the north screening the northern approach.

The base was constructed by contractors in 1996–1997 during the handover period and entered use in 1997. Unlike most military property in Hong Kong, it was not transferred from British forces but built new, most of the site being formed by dredging and infill in the early 1990s in anticipation of the relocation of HMS Tamar. Older buildings and recreation facilities on the site, some dating to the 1930s and a few to the 1870s, were inherited from the Hong Kong Military Service Corps. Roads within the base formerly carried British names, which have since been dropped.
