Russia Navy Olenegorsky Gornyak Damaged

Ropucha-class large landing ship struck on 4 August 2023 by a Ukrainian uncrewed surface vessel (USV) carrying a 450kg TNT equivalent warhead near Novorossiysk naval base. The explosion tore a significant breach in the hull, causing the ship to list heavily to port. She was towed back to Novorossiysk for emergency repairs. The attack demonstrated Ukraine's ability to reach the Russian fleet even after its partial relocation from Sevastopol to Novorossiysk. Olenegorsky Gornyak was commissioned in 1976 and had been operating in support of amphibious logistics in the Black Sea.
