United States Navy USS Key West Retired

USS Key West held her inactivation ceremony at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, Washington, on 22 July 2024, then was formally decommissioned when her commissioning pennant was hauled down and ownership of the hull passed to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton on 12 September 2025 -- exactly 38 years after her commissioning. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding, she deployed to the Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean early in her career and later supported Persian Gulf operations. She arrived at Puget Sound in January 2023 to begin the inactivation process ahead of nuclear recycling under the Ship-Submarine Recycling Program.
