Description
The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the future USS Ted Stevens (DDG 128) from HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division on 29 December 2025, the third Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to join the fleet. Flight III introduces the AN/SPY-6(V)1 Air and Missile Defense Radar and an upgraded electrical and cooling plant, substantially increasing integrated air and missile defence capability over earlier Flight IIA hulls. Named for the long-serving Alaska senator and World War II transport pilot, the ship moved to post-delivery availability ahead of commissioning, with Ingalls continuing series production of follow-on Flight III units at Pascagoula.
