Description
ROKS Jang Bogo (SS-061), the first submarine of the Republic of Korea Navy, was decommissioned on 31 December 2025 after 34 years of service, following a farewell ceremony at the Submarine Force Command in Jinhae on 29 December, The Korea Times and The Korea Herald reported. The German-designed Type 209 boat had sailed about 633,000 km since 1992, according to The Korea Herald. Seoul has proposed transferring the retired submarine to Poland free of charge, Naval Technology reported.
