Description
The Arleigh Burke-class Flight IIA guided-missile destroyer USS Harvey C. Barnum Jr. (DDG-124) was commissioned on April 11, 2026, at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. The ship was delivered by Huntington Ingalls Industries Ingalls Shipbuilding in November 2025. DDG-124 is equipped with the Aegis Baseline 9 combat system and the AN/SPY-1D(V) radar. The vessel is named in honor of a Medal of Honor recipient who served as a Marine artillery officer in Vietnam. The commissioning adds another Aegis-capable destroyer to the Atlantic Fleet.
