Description
Delivered by Fincantieri to the Italian Navy on 14 April 2026 at the Palermo shipyard, where the vessel had been extensively upgraded. Originally built by VARD in Vietnam as the platform supply vessel MV Coco, Tritone (A 5341) was acquired through a rapid procurement model emphasizing flexible capability acquisition. With a full load displacement of 6,600 tons, an overall length of 81.7 m and integrated full electric propulsion, the ship is assigned to the Fifth Naval Division at La Spezia. Its modular design supports seabed warfare, critical underwater infrastructure protection, submarine rescue and underwater domain surveillance with unmanned systems and ROVs.
