Description
Commissioned on 25 April 2026 during a ceremony at Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut, formally entering U.S. Navy service. Idaho is the 26th Virginia-class fast-attack submarine and the eighth in the Block IV configuration, the 14th Virginia-class submarine delivered by General Dynamics Electric Boat. Construction began with a keel laying at the Quonset Point Facility in August 2020, the boat was christened at the Groton shipyard in March 2024, and delivery to the Navy took place on 15 December 2025. The Virginia class displaces 7,800 tons, measures 377 feet long, and carries Tomahawk cruise missiles and Mk 48 torpedoes.
