Description
Decommissioned at Brest on 2 April 2026 with a final colours ceremony held aboard. Commissioned in 1993, Antarès was the lead ship of a three-vessel Socarenam-built class of bâtiments remorqueurs de sonars, used to tow variable-depth sonar arrays for mine detection and to support clearance diver operations. She had ceased operational activity in December 2025. The class is being replaced under the Système de lutte anti-mines futur programme by autonomous systems of the mine warfare flotilla; sister ships Altaïr and Aldébaran are to be converted into navigation training vessels rather than scrapped.
