France Navy Perle Retired

The Rubis-class nuclear attack submarine Perle (S606) held her final colours ceremony at the naval base in Cherbourg on 23 June 2026, marking her official decommissioning after 33 years of service, ici Normandie reported; the boat passes to the Direction générale de l'armement for dismantling. Her withdrawal had been set by a decree published on 23 December 2025, with crews reassigned between 2026 and 2028, Meta-Defense reported. Perle was heavily damaged by fire in dry dock at Toulon in June 2020 and returned to service in 2023 after the bow of the retired sister boat Saphir was grafted on.
