Description
Reported damaged on the night of 12 August 2026 in the Ukrainian strike on the Novorossiysk naval base. Ukraine's General Staff listed a Project 21631 Buyan-M small missile ship among the four warships hit, alongside the frigates Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen and the patrol ship Vasily Bykov, but did not name the hull. The class carries the Kalibr cruise missiles used against Ukrainian targets from the Black Sea and the Caspian. The independent satellite-imagery analysis published the next day identified a different set of auxiliaries, so the Buyan-M hit rests on the Ukrainian statement alone; damage was not assessed and Russia did not comment.
