Description
Struck from the active list in 2020 and laid up, the survey ship was first put up for auction in September 2024 and placed up for public sale for demolition on 7 August 2026, per Zona Militar; the National Appraisal Court set an auction value of 66 million pesos, and scrapping is to take place at the Mar del Plata Naval Base. Built by Astilleros Mestrina and delivered to the Argentine Navy's Hydrographic Naval Service in December 1974, the survey ship supported the Patagonian continental shelf claim submitted to the UN in 2009 and took part in the 2017 search for the missing submarine ARA San Juan. Already listed among surplus hulls in a September 2024 disposal notice, it had been out of active service since 2024.
