Description
Textron Systems said on 6 October 2026 that the US Navy had awarded it a contract modification worth about $230 million for two additional Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) craft, to be built at its New Orleans shipyard, according to Naval News and Baird Maritime. Textron said it had delivered 18 SSC craft to the Navy to date, with 13 more in various stages of testing and production. Designated LCAC 100, the Ship-to-Shore Connector replaces the Landing Craft Air Cushion hovercraft that entered service in the 1980s and operates from the well decks of US Navy amphibious ships, carrying Marine Corps vehicles and cargo ashore.
