Description
An Indian Air Force Su-30MKI crashed in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, during an operational training mission flown alongside a Mirage 2000, both aircraft having departed Gwalior. Both Su-30 crew members ejected and were taken to hospital. Wreckage from the two aircraft was recovered from the same area and investigators examined whether they had collided in mid-air, though no collision was formally confirmed at the time. The Su-30MKI is the backbone of the Indian fighter force, with more than 250 in service, and is flown in air superiority, strike and maritime roles from bases across the country.
