Description
An Indian Army Aviation Dhruv made a forced landing on the bank of the Marua River in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir after the crew reported a technical fault. The helicopter came to rest partly in the water and all three occupants were recovered injured; one, an army technician, later died of his injuries, and the two pilots were hospitalised. The Indian Army ordered a court of inquiry into the accident. The Dhruv is the mainstay light utility helicopter of Indian Army Aviation, flown intensively in the mountainous northern sectors where the accident occurred and where terrain and weather leave little margin.
