United States Air Force F-16C Crash

A United States Air Force F-16C of the 80th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Wing, crashed in farmland near Osan Air Base during a routine training sortie. The pilot ejected safely with minor injuries and no one on the ground was hurt. The accident investigation board found that an electrical power loss caused a cascading failure and restart of the primary flight and navigation systems, leaving the pilot with conflicting instrument indications and no prompt to revert to standby instruments. Flying in dense cloud, he became spatially disoriented and lost control at low altitude. The origin of the power loss could not be determined.
